OK let's talk about Concord

What Is Concord?

Concord is an agreement between the subject and verb of clause structure ensuring they match in number and gender.

Questions can be set in different ways but, let's talk about the types first then we study past questions.

Types of Concord and Rules that Apply to Each.

  1. Subject/Object Concord
  2. Subject/Verb Concord
  3. A-pair-of Concord
  4. The Principle of Proximity
  5. Many -a Concord
  6. "More-than" Concord
  7. etc.............

Now let's pick them one after the other ... ok? who's excited 🤓 🤩😜

Subject/Object Concord

NEVER SAY "EVERYBODY ARE HERE"

SAY: "EVERYBODY IS HERE"

Nothing much on this just what you need to Know..

WHEN EVERYONE, EVERYBODY ARE USED ----

The Verb must be SINGULAR, and the Object will be HIS/HER not "THEY or THEIR"e.g:
correct: "EVERYONE SHOULD BRING HIS OR HER NOTEBOOK"  ✔️
wrong: "EVERYONE SHOULD BRING THER NOTEBOOK" 👎

🥰

Subject-Verb Agreement:

That reminds me 🤓

what are Singular Verbs?

we have your "IS, AM, WAS,HAS", the  verbs that include "S" at the back e.g

SINGS, KISSES, WRITES, GOES, KNOWS, etc..

What About Plural Verbs? You guessed it right 🤫?

we have your "WERE, HAVE, ARE, the verbs that do not include "S" at the back e.g

SING, KISS, WRITE, GO, KNOW, DO, DRINK..

TO BE CONTINUED.......
