Nursing is a highly competitive course and the probability of studying it in a university with a JAMB score less than 180 is quite low, I mean very low. Due to its high competition, most universities require a high jamb score, typically above 200 for admission into the nursing program.

However, this doesn’t stop you from pursuing your dream of becoming a nurse as there are several opportunities to explore with a JAMB score less than 180, such as;

  1. Private Universities: Consider private universities like Madonna University, Babcock University, or Bowen University, which may have more flexible admission requirements. This might not be the best option as the fee can be very expensive and less affordable.
  1. Related Courses: You can apply for related courses in the health sector like Public Health, Environmental Health, or Health Education, which may have lower JAMB score requirements.
  1. Foundation Programs: Take a foundation program or pre-degree course like JUPEB and the likes to improve your chances of getting admitted into a nursing program.
  1. Resit for JAMB: You can sit for another JAMB and aim for a higher score to increase your chances of getting admitted into a nursing program.
  1. Diploma Programs: Consider diploma programs in nursing or related fields, which may be offered by the universities or colleges.
  1. Certificate Courses: Enroll in certificate courses or training programs in healthcare-related fields like first aid, emergency response, or healthcare management. This gives you a better insight into what the job is about and also fuels your passion to study more and higher into the nursing program.
  1. Vocational Training: Pursue vocational training in healthcare-related areas like medical laboratory assistance, pharmacy assistance, or dental assistance. This can also keep you busy and at the same time, doing what you love.
  1. International Opportunities: Which we refer to as JAPA.  Explore international opportunities, such as studying nursing in countries with more flexible admission requirements. The requirements might include taking international exams such as IELTS, PAX, TOEFL, PSB Aptitude exam, e.t.c.

You must note that there are deadlines to all that was mentioned above, so do well to make a smart decision and pursue your dream in the best way you can. I am totally rooting for you.
